Risk Management Consultant

We are seeking a dedicated Risk Management Consultant to join our team, focusing on safety, risk control, and workers’ compensation management for our clients.

The Risk Management Consultant will play a crucial role in advising and supporting our clients on risk and safety issues. This position involves creating and presenting training materials, analyzing accident patterns, and developing safety programs. The consultant will also provide guidance on OSHA and government regulations and perform site visits to assess and mitigate potential hazards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate with customers about how risk/safety issues impact their business and suggest possible resolutions.
  • Create and present safety and workers’ compensation presentations and training sessions.
  • Provide OSHA and government regulation guidance to client companies, including education on any changes.
  • Consult with clients on controlling hazards and implementing corrective measures to reduce or prevent losses.
  • Perform initial risk/safety orientations, inform clients of risk services provided, and discuss client PEO responsibilities.
  • Analyze accident patterns and loss trends to recommend appropriate risk control services.
  • Monitor workers’ compensation claim experience and perform accident investigations.
  • Conduct loss control surveys to determine potential hazards and risk factors.
  • Develop and implement return-to-work programs for injured employees.
  • Review workers’ compensation class codes at all levels to ensure correct classification for adequate premium collection.
  • Develop client/site-specific Safety Program Manuals to educate clients and employees on safety, workplace injuries, and state and federal regulations.
  • Document all client interactions in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Monitor safety and risk performance measures.
  • Research various topics and stay abreast of changing legislation and regulations.
  • Serve as a resource to the Sales Team and Human Resources and promote the company to potential clients.
  • Travel to various client locations in Florida and other states by different modes of transportation (i.e., car, bus, airplane).

Skills:

  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation, OSHA, and safety laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to disability and leave laws.
  • Knowledge of risk management, loss control, and/or insurance.
  • Knowledge of accident investigation analysis and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing. Listens effectively. Clearly expresses ideas and recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze data and facts and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to write technically detailed reports to provide clear assessments and recommendations.
  • Ability to identify where a client is falling short and use that as an example of why they need to follow the recommendation.
  • Proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain credible working relationships with underwriting and service teams, vendors, clients, and coworkers.
  • High school diploma from an accredited school is required.
  • College courses and/or experience in Risk Management is preferred.
